The teaching demo above relates to applying metacognitive awareness in listening to improve listening comprehension. That means directing students to think more closely about the way they are thinking so that they can better identify what they are understanding and what they are missing. In listening, this can be an effective strategy to help students consider what is working for them during listening practice and areas they can improve on.
Reading Skills Demonstration
The teaching demo above relates to reading, specifically improving student awareness of key ideas by applying the reading strategy of skimming to identify important information on the topic. It covers 10 minutes of a sample teaching demonstration on the lesson, and it includes a PowerPoint presentation with accompanying audio and video.
Unit Plans
Below are two unit plans, one for a theoretical course in Reading & Writing (Intermediate-High) and one for a real course in Integrated Skills (Intermediate-Low).
They cover at least 10 hours of instruction each and include detailed sequences, objectives, standards, materials, etc. for use by an instructor. Complete unit plans can be requested via email at irvingbustosbeltran@gmail.com.
